Support Future Educational Opportunities for Englewood Health Nurses with IRA Charitable Rollover

For Stephen and Leslie Jerome, education is a family business. Founded in 1933, the "Monroe School of Business" opened with just four small classrooms and the goal of helping students and their families achieve their educational goals and begin their journey to career success.

Nearly nine decades later, Monroe College continues to evolve with programs to increase college access and academic achievement. None of which would be possible without Stephen's direction and guidance as President from 1978 to 2017. Today, he serves as the President of the Monroe Foundation with a mission to assist deserving individuals in the pursuit of higher education at the institution of their choice. A family affair, Leslie has worked in various positions at the College over the past 30 years and currently serves as Director for Alumni Relations.

The Jerome's settled in nearby Cresskill, New Jersey, in 1985 and have benefited from excellent care provided by Englewood Health. "Englewood Health is a special place because it offers best-in-class clinicians with the most advanced technology in an environment that always puts patients first," Stephen says. "At this stage of our lives, Leslie and I are comforted knowing the hospital is just around the corner."

Longtime benefactors, Stephen and Leslie chose Englewood Health for their largest-ever donation by establishing The Leslie and Stephen Jerome Center for Nursing Pathways within the Kaplen Institute for Nursing Excellence to support educational opportunities for nurses for years to come.

To honor the initial pledge commitment for their gift, the Jeromes chose an IRA charitable rollover - which allows them to satisfy their required minimum distribution for the year without realizing any income on the transfer. As a family of educators, the Jeromes believe in the power of learning. "Our gift underscores both our commitment to education and the future of nursing at Englewood Health," Stephen says. "We are proud to help advance their professional growth through our investment."
